Cheap Tidal in 2026: 12 Months on a Tidal Family Plan for €44
Tidal now charges $11.99 a month in the US. Here is how our €44 12-month Family plan option works, why it needs a fresh email, and its trade-offs.
Tidal changed its prices in August 2026. In the US, Tidal Individual is now $11.99 a month and Tidal Family is $19.99 a month, according to Tidal's support pages. A year of Individual comes to $143.88, and a year of Family to $239.88.
SpandyUpgrades sells one way to get cheap Tidal: a 12-month membership on a Tidal Family plan for €44, against a retail price of €240. That is 82% off. It is the simplest order in our music catalog, because all we need is an email address. It also has a condition that surprises people: the email must belong to an account that has never been linked to Tidal.
What Tidal includes
Tidal is built around sound quality. From Tidal's own support pages:
- A catalog of over 180 million songs
- HiRes FLAC up to 24-bit, 192 kHz when you choose Max quality in the app's settings. Tidal plays the best version the artist delivered, falling back to CD-quality FLAC (16-bit, 44.1 kHz) where no hi-res file exists.
- Dolby Atmos Music on supported devices, with the Dolby Atmos tag shown on the Now Playing screen for tracks that have it
Tidal recommends a steady connection of at least 1.5 to 2 Mbps for High and Max quality, and notes that Max can use up to 40 MB of data per minute. Worth knowing before you stream hi-res on mobile data.
Getting the sound you're paying for
Tidal's quality depends on a setting and on your hardware, and its support pages are specific about both.
The app offers three quality levels under Settings > Streaming > Audio Quality: Low, High and Max. Low streams AAC at 96 or 320 kbps. High streams FLAC at 16-bit, 44.1 kHz, which is CD quality. Max plays the best file the artist delivered, up to HiRes FLAC at 24-bit, 192 kHz. A small label next to the progress bar shows FLAC, High or Low for the track that is playing, and tapping it shows the bit depth and sample rate.
To hear hi-res as intended, Tidal suggests checking that your device's digital-to-analog converter (DAC) supports 24-bit, 192 kHz playback and using a wired or Wi-Fi connection. Dolby Atmos is a separate format and needs a device that supports it; Tidal notes, for example, that an Apple TV 4K needs HDMI eARC rather than plain ARC to pass Atmos to a soundbar.

What you get
A Tidal account that is a member of a Tidal Family plan for 12 months. It is your own account with your own login, library and recommendations. Family members on Tidal aren't sharing one profile; each member is a separate Tidal account invited to the plan.
Why only an email, and why it must be fresh
Tidal adds people to a Family plan by email invitation. The plan's primary account holder enters your email address and you accept. For a new Tidal user, joining works through setting a password via Tidal's "forgot your password" step after accepting the invite. That is why we don't need your password: the invitation does the work.
The listing requires that the email has never been linked to Tidal before. Tidal also requires every family member to have a Tidal account in the same country as the primary account holder. An existing account already has a country and a subscription history of its own, and either can stop it joining; a fresh email has neither.
So use an email address that has never signed up for Tidal. If you already have a Tidal account under your usual email, use a different address for this order. Your old playlists won't move over by themselves; you'd have to rebuild them or use a transfer tool.
Who this suits
- You want hi-res and Dolby Atmos for a year at a fraction of the US price. That is exactly what this option is.
- You're starting Tidal fresh. New listeners lose nothing by using a new email.
- You'd rather not hand over a password. This is the only plan in our music range that needs just an email.
It suits you less if you have years of playlists in an existing Tidal account under the same email, or if you need Tidal DJ. Tidal says DJ isn't available on Family plans. If you only want lossless and are attached to another service's library, compare Deezer, whose paid plans all include FLAC, and Apple Music.
How ordering works
- Pick an email address that has never been used with Tidal. Create one if you need to.
- Choose the 12-month plan on the Tidal page and pay by card or crypto. First-time buyers get 10% off.
- Enter that email and a Discord or Telegram username in the order form. No password is needed.
- A Family plan invitation is sent to the email. Most orders are delivered within 0–24 hours.
- Accept the invitation and set your password. Then download the Tidal app, sign in, and set streaming quality to Max under Settings > Streaming if you want hi-res.
If Tidal stops working during the 12 months for a reason you didn't cause, open a Discord ticket with your payment ID and it is replaced at no charge. The warranty doesn't cover a ban for breaking Tidal's terms, a region change you make yourself, or credentials you share. See how it works for the general process.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my existing Tidal account?
No. The account must be fresh and never linked to Tidal before. Use a new email address for the order. Your old Tidal account stays as it is.
Why don't you need my password?
Tidal Family works by email invitation. You receive the invite at the address you gave us, accept it and set your own password, so your login never passes through us.
Do I get hi-res FLAC and Dolby Atmos?
Tidal delivers HiRes FLAC up to 24-bit, 192 kHz on Max quality and Dolby Atmos on supported devices. Choose Max in the app's streaming settings. Hi-res only plays where the artist supplied a hi-res file, and Atmos needs compatible hardware.
Can other people on the family plan see my listening?
Each family member is a separate Tidal account with its own login and library. You share the subscription, not the account.
Is this against Tidal's terms?
You are joining a Family plan as a member, and Tidal sets its own conditions for family plans, such as all members being in the same country as the plan's owner. Tidal can change how it enforces its rules at any time. If your access stops for a reason you didn't cause, the warranty covers a replacement.
What happens after 12 months?
The family membership ends and the account drops to no subscription. Your playlists stay on the account, so if you order again or subscribe with Tidal directly, they are still there.
