Duolingo Super Family for 12 Months: Six Accounts, One Upgrade

Super Family puts up to six people on Duolingo Super for one price. Here is how the owner role works, who you can invite, and what each member's account needs before joining.

Super Family is for the household, or group of friends, where more than one person uses Duolingo. One account becomes the Family Owner and can bring in up to five others, and every member gets the full Super tier for the year.

The SpandyUpgrades 12-month cheap Duolingo family plan is €45 against a retail reference of €120, a saving of 63%. With all six seats filled, that's a sixth of €45 per person for a year of Super. Your account becomes the owner, and you invite everyone else yourself.

What you get

  • Super for up to six accounts. Duolingo's Super page describes Super Family as "up to 6 Super accounts". Each member gets unlimited hearts, no ads and unlimited Legendary.
  • The Family Owner role on your account. Per Duolingo's Family Plan help page, only the manager can manage the subscription: invite and remove members from the Super dashboard.
  • Twelve months from activation.

What it doesn't include: Max features. Family members get Super, not Roleplay or Video Call with Lily.

What it requires

From the SpandyUpgrades order requirements and Duolingo's own Family Plan rules:

  • Your account must be free. No active subscription and no current family membership. It will be set up as the Family Owner.
  • Your login email and password in the order form, plus a Discord or Telegram username.
  • Each person you invite must be eligible. Duolingo won't add someone with an active paid subscription. They have to cancel and wait for it to expire before joining.

Members can be anyone, in any country, learning any language. Duolingo puts no restriction on who counts as family.

How Family compares to the individual plans

PlanPriceAccountsPer account if fully used
Super Family (this guide)€45Up to 6A sixth of €45
Super€351€35
Max€551€55

The break-even point is two people. As soon as a second person in your life wants Super, Family costs less than two individual Super upgrades, and every extra member after that is free.

Choose individual Super instead if you're the only learner, or if your account can't be the owner. That happens when it's already in someone else's family, or when you'd rather not manage invites. Choose Max if speaking practice matters more to you than sharing.

Ordering and setting up the family

  1. Make sure your account is free: no paid plan running and not part of any Family Plan.
  2. On the Duolingo product page, choose Super Family · 12 months.
  3. Enter your Duolingo email and password and a Discord or Telegram username.
  4. Pay by card or crypto. PayPal and direct wallet payments go through a Discord ticket. First-time buyers get 10% off.
  5. Most orders are delivered within 0–24 hours. When it's done, your account shows as the family manager.
  6. Change your password.
  7. Invite members from the app. Duolingo's steps: tap the Super icon at the top of the home screen, then in the Family Plan section tap + or Manage → Add member, and send the link by text, WhatsApp, email or any other app. Each person accepts the link with a new or existing Duolingo account.

For children under 13, Duolingo makes profiles private and suggests sending the invite by text or email. If you share a device with them you can add them directly.

Limits specific to Family

You're responsible for the seats. Only the owner can add or remove people. If you're the one who orders, you're the one family members come to.

Don't sell seats. Duolingo's help page says slots can't be resold for money, and that it can block new members or end Family Plans where that has happened. Inviting your family and friends is the intended use. Charging strangers for a seat risks the whole plan, and a ban for breaking Duolingo's terms isn't covered by the warranty.

Members with existing subscriptions have to wait. Anyone still on a paid Duolingo plan must let it lapse before your invite will work.

Warranty. If the plan stops working during the year for a reason you didn't cause, open a Discord ticket with your payment ID and it gets replaced. Changing the account's region after the upgrade, sharing the owner login, or a terms-of-service ban voids it.

Frequently asked questions

Will members lose their streaks when they join?

No. Duolingo states that joining, starting or leaving a Family Plan doesn't affect learning progress or streaks.

Can I invite people who live in another country?

Yes. Duolingo allows members in any location, learning any language.

My partner already pays for Super. Can they join?

Not straight away. They need to cancel their subscription and let it expire, then accept your invite.

Can I remove someone and add a different person?

Yes. As owner, open the Super dashboard, tap Manage → Edit, select the member and confirm removal. The seat is then free for a new invite.

Do Family members get Max features?

No. This is Super Family, so every member gets Super. Max is a separate single-account upgrade.

More on how the three plans compare is in the Duolingo buying guide, and you can order on the Duolingo page.
