Spotify Premium Duo for 12 Months: Two Accounts for €40
Duo gives two people their own Premium accounts for a year in one order. Here is the cost per person, what Spotify's same-address rule means, and when Solo is better value.
Spotify Premium Duo is for two people who live together and each want their own Premium account. Our 12-month Duo upgrade costs €40, against a retail price of €180 for the same year. That saves €140 (78%).
The useful way to look at Duo is per person. Split two ways, €40 for the year works out at half that each, which at current prices is less per head than our Solo option. Spotify's own US price for Duo is $18.99 a month as of October 2026, or $227.88 for the year.
What you get
A 12-month Premium Duo plan applied to the Spotify account you give us. Spotify describes Duo as two separate Premium accounts on a single bill:
- Two accounts, two logins. Each person keeps their own library, playlists and recommendations, so your tastes don't mix.
- Full Premium on both: ad-free listening, offline downloads, songs in any order and lossless audio up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz.
- Audiobooks for the plan manager. Spotify gives the 15 hours a month of audiobook listening on Duo to the plan manager only. The other member can buy hours as an add-on.
Spotify also allows an existing Premium or free account to move onto Duo while keeping its saved music and playlists, so neither of you starts over.
What it requires
- Your Spotify email and password in the order form. The Duo upgrade is applied while signed in to your account.
- A Discord or Telegram username for contact about the order.
- No active paid plan on the account. Cancel any current Premium and let it lapse before ordering.
The second person needs a Spotify account of their own, free or otherwise. Spotify's Duo page describes the joining flow: the plan invites the second person, and they accept the invitation and confirm their address.
Spotify's same-address rule
This is the condition to understand before buying Duo. Spotify's Duo page says both members "must live at the same address to join Premium Duo," and verifies that address when the second person joins. After that, Spotify says both accounts can be used anywhere, on any device.
So Duo fits a couple or two housemates. It doesn't fit two friends in different cities, and a Duo shared that way would break Spotify's terms. The warranty doesn't cover an account banned for breaking Spotify's terms.
How Duo compares to Solo and Family
| Duo | Solo | Family slot | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | €40 | €30 | €20 |
| Retail | €180 | €132 | No listed retail |
| Accounts covered | 2 | 1 | 1 |
| Length | 12 months | 12 months | No end date |
| You run the plan | Yes | Yes | No, you're a member |
At current prices, two Solo orders cost more than one Duo, so for two people at one address Duo is the better deal. For one person, Solo is cheaper. The Family slot is cheaper still for one person, but it is a membership in someone else's family plan rather than a plan of your own.
Ordering step by step
- Cancel any paid Spotify plan on the account that will hold Duo, and wait for it to return to free.
- Choose Duo · 12 months on the Spotify page and pay by card or crypto. First-time buyers get 10% off.
- Enter that account's email and password and a Discord or Telegram username.
- The upgrade is applied. Most orders are delivered within 0–24 hours, and your order page shows progress.
- Check that the account shows Premium Duo, then change its password.
- Invite the second person from the Duo plan. They accept and confirm the address.
Risks and limits
The address check is Spotify's. If the two of you don't share an address, Duo isn't the right plan. Two Solo orders, or the Family slot, avoid the problem.
Only the account you gave us holds the plan. The second member's Premium depends on the Duo plan. If the main account loses Duo, both do.
Don't change the account's region. The warranty is void after a region change, a ban for breaking Spotify's terms, or a shared login.
Fixed 12 months. Both accounts go back to Spotify Free when the year ends. Libraries stay on each account.
Within those terms Duo has the full warranty: if Premium stops for a reason you didn't cause, open a Discord ticket with your payment ID and it is restored at no charge.

Frequently asked questions
Do we each get our own account?
Yes. Spotify Duo is two separate Premium accounts. Each person logs in with their own details and keeps their own playlists and recommendations.
Does the second person need to give you their password?
No. Only the account that holds the Duo plan is used for the order. The second person joins through Spotify's invitation and confirms the address on their own account.
Do we have to live together?
Spotify's Duo page says both members must live at the same address, and it verifies the address when the second member joins. If you don't share a home, choose Solo for each person instead.
Who gets the audiobook hours?
The plan manager, which is the account you give us. Spotify gives the 15 monthly audiobook hours on Duo to the plan manager only; the other member can buy an add-on.
What happens after 12 months?
Both accounts return to Spotify Free. Playlists, liked songs and history stay on each account, and you can order another year from the Spotify page.
