Proton Unlimited Upgrade: VPN, Mail, Drive and Pass for 12 Months
Proton Unlimited on your own account for 12 months: the VPN on ten devices plus Mail, Drive and Pass with 500 GB of storage. Who it's worth the extra for.
The Proton Unlimited upgrade is for people who use Proton for more than the VPN: a Proton Mail address, files in Proton Drive, passwords in Proton Pass. We upgrade your own account to Unlimited for 12 months for €90. Our listed retail is €156, twelve months at Proton's monthly rate of $12.99. Proton's standard 12-month Unlimited plan is $119.88 in US dollars, as of October 2026, so that is the fairer price to hold ours against.
If you only want the VPN, this is more than you need. The question this page answers is whether the rest of the bundle is worth the step up.
What Proton Unlimited adds over VPN Plus
Proton describes Unlimited as all the features of VPN Plus, Mail Plus, Pass Plus and Drive Plus, plus Proton Calendar, with 500 GB of total storage. In practice:
| VPN Plus | Proton Unlimited | |
|---|---|---|
| VPN on up to 10 devices | Yes | Yes |
| Full server network, NetShield, Secure Core | Yes | Yes |
| Mail Plus | No | Yes |
| Drive Plus | No | Yes |
| Pass Plus | No | Yes |
| Proton Calendar | Not listed | Included |
| Storage | Not listed | 500 GB total |
| Proton's 12-month price | $83.88 | $119.88 |
| Our price | €53 | €90 |
The VPN is identical. What the extra money buys is Proton's paid email, storage and password manager, applied to the account you already use.
A premade account can carry the same services, but your email and files would sit in an account you don't own and that ends after a year. On your own account they stay yours.
What we need from you
- Your Proton account email and password.
- A Discord or Telegram username.
The upgrade is applied while signed in, which is why the password is needed once. Change it as soon as Unlimited shows on your account. This plan has a 360-day warranty.
Is Unlimited worth it over VPN Plus?
Do the sum against what you'd pay otherwise. If you'd otherwise pay separately for a password manager, cloud storage or a private email service, Unlimited replaces those with one account for the price gap between the two tables above. If you have no plans to use Mail, Drive or Pass, buy the VPN Plus upgrade and keep the difference.
There's a middle case too. If you want Unlimited's VPN on one device and don't care about the rest, the premade Unlimited account is far cheaper, with the catch that it is limited to one device, isn't your account and has a 90-day warranty.

Limits specific to this plan
Storage after the year ends. When the 12 months end, your account drops back to a free plan, with a smaller storage allowance. Before renewal time, either order another year or move files off so you're under the free limit.
Your password is shared once. Change it immediately after the upgrade. If your account has two-factor authentication on, tell us on Discord so the upgrade can be completed.
Warranty exclusions. The 360-day warranty covers the plan stopping for a reason you didn't cause. It doesn't cover a ban for breaking Proton's terms, changing your account's region after the upgrade, or sharing the account's login.
Final sale. Refunds only apply if the upgrade can't be delivered.
Frequently asked questions
Will my existing emails and files stay?
Yes. The upgrade changes the plan on your account. Existing mail, files, passwords and settings stay where they are.
Does Proton Unlimited include more VPN devices than VPN Plus?
No. Proton lists ten devices for both. The difference is the Mail, Drive and Pass upgrades and the 500 GB of storage.
Can my family use it?
The VPN runs on up to ten devices at the same time, so it can cover devices around the house. Mail, Drive and Pass belong to your account, though, so anyone else using them would be using your inbox and your files.
What happens to my 500 GB if I don't renew?
The account returns to free limits. Your data isn't part of the upgrade, but you'll be over the free allowance if you've filled it, so plan ahead before the year ends.
Is the no-logs policy different on Unlimited?
No. Proton applies the same no-logs policy to all plans, and says it has passed a fifth consecutive annual audit by Securitum.
